The Staff Accountant position requires an understanding of accounting practices, a willingness to apply them and the analytical ability to research and understand their impact on the results of the organization. 


  • Prepares monthly journal entries related to prepaid and accrued expenses as assigned
  • Reconciles, investigates and explains account and budget variances for monthly financial statement presentation
  • Prepares supplemental schedules for financial statements
  • Performs daily reconciliations of PSF systems to SAP as assigned
  • Maintains and investigates appropriate non-patient AR balances--record monthly accruals and payments when received
  • Prepares monthly sales tax filings
  • Analyzes, investigates and evaluates monthly accruals related to vendor payments and payroll related accounts
  • Works to eliminate issues in accuracy and difficulty in processes
  • Reports monthly hospital cash disbursements to HHC
  • Assists with preparation for annual financial audit—PBC items, tracking down information etc. 
  • Initiates vendor ACH transactions as needed
  • Facilitates monthly restricted fund reporting and recording for Eskenazi Health


  • Completion of Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or business or related experience; working experience in SAP system preferable
