Position Summary:

Responsible for the performance of the STD Program for District 5, which includes Marion and surrounding counties. Supervises field operations supervisors; and responds to the needs of the STD Program by designing and implementing new initiatives. This may include seeking funding, both original programs and those recommended by Health and Hospital Corporation management, ISDH and the Medical Director in consultation with Disease Intervention and Surveillance.

Qualifications:

Education/Licensure/Certifications/Experience:

  • Completion of a Master’s degree (including courses in epidemiology, psychology, sociology, public health/physical/biological sciences preferred) plus a minimum 2 years of experience in STD control
  • Experience managing a health program preferred
  • Master’s in Public Health or related field desirable
  • Successful completion of ISDH and CDC training for DIS or supervisors - Candidates with completed training preferred , but if not already completed, must be completed within 6 months of hiring
  • Supervisory Experience for a minimum of 1 year
  • Prior DIS experience strongly preferred
  • Counseling training desirable

 Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of epidemiology, objectives, methodologies, and evaluative tools of STD control necessary
  • Knowledge of SAS or other statistical analysis software preferred
  • Effective communication/interpersonal/organizational skills
  • Analyze/accurately evaluate epidemiological/clinical data
  • Identify problems; expeditiously plan/implement corrective activity
  • Ability to speak in a variety of public settings from professional to neighborhoods.
  • Bilingual candidates are valued.
