Job Description

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist operates all nuclear medicine imaging and counting equipment in performing patient examinations and tests. This position reports to the Nuclear Medicine Supervisor and the Radiology Manager.
Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health’s mission: Advocate, Care, Teach, and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County; models Eskenazi Health’s values
  • Operates all nuclear medicine imaging and counting equipment in performing patient examinations and tests
  • Produces information for the nuclear medicine physician to use in diagnosing patient illness
  • Performs all routine nuclear medicine organ imaging procedures, patient injections, function studies, and in-vitro procedures
  • Operates gamma scintillation cameras, dose calibrators, automatic gamma scintillation counter, radiation monitoring devices, computer, programmable calculators, and other specialized instruments in department
  • Prepares radiopharmaceuticals by acceptable sterile techniques following all regulations for handling of radioactive materials
  • Shares responsibility of record keeping for all patients, studies, radiopharmaceutical preparation, and patient prescriptions
  • Trains and precepts students and/or new employees
  • Must remain in compliance with all accreditations including but not limited to: American College of Radiology, Indiana State Department of Health and The Joint Commission education, license and certification requirements.
Associate’s degree in Physical Sciences or Nuclear Medicine Technology and successful completion of an AMA-approved nuclear medicine training program required. Bachelor’s degree, preferred
  • NMTCB or ARRT Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist required within six months of hire
  • ISDH licensure required
