Eskenazi Health Midtown Community Mental Health, Indiana's first community mental health center, provides comprehensive care for emotional and behavioral problems, including severe mental illness and substance abuse. Eskenazi Health Midtown offers both inpatient and outpatient services, including several outreach centers as well as clinic- and community-based services.


The Non-Emergency Medical Transport Driver is responsible for transporting Pedigo clients to and from Eskenazi Health Midtown Community Mental Health related appointments. This position maintains the safety and security of the vehicle and equipment; assists the team leader with checking and maintaining vehicle equipment and supplies.


 Ensures appropriate steps are consistently taken to ensure safety of patients and equipment.

 Attends and completes all required training timely.

 Transports patients to and from (but not limited to) clinic appointments, the hospital, pharmacies, Reuben Engagement Center, the shelters, and homeless encampments.

 Maintains appropriate logs/records.

 Maintains clean and efficient equipment, reports defective/broken equipment to supervisor.

 Records number/type/destination of transports for monthly report.

 Assists patients in/out of wheelchairs using the principles of good body mechanics.

 Exercises independent judgment in critical situations.

 Maintains the security of the vehicle and equipment; assists the supervisor with checking and maintaining vehicle equipment and supplies.

 Answers pager/telephone to remain in communication with clinic staff.

 May be required to attend meetings or perform work remote from clinic or hospital campus.

 Communicate with Pedigo clinic and receptions at hospital/clinics arrival and departure.

 Verify correct patient names by comparing information from the request with asking patient their name and date of birth.

 Provides comfort and compassionate nonjudgmental care to patients, visitors, and families.  

 Safely answers telephone or on call pager.

 Attend meetings as directed.

 Communicate with nursing staff, clinicians, technicians or receptions of patient’s arrival or departure.

 Disinfects equipment appropriately according to Eskenazi Health infection control policy.

 Provide comfort and compassionate care to patients, visitors and families.


 High school diploma or equivalent.

 Current CPR certification.

 Current Indiana Driver’s license with motor vehicle record that meets Eskenazi Health’s driving policy standards.

 Current Indiana motor vehicle insurance.

 EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operators Course) certification acquired within 6 months of employment.
