Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 315-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.


The Coordinator Medication Use & Regulatory Compliance provides oversight of the medication use process across the health system, including formulary management and ensuring a constant state of regulatory readiness.


  • Performs all duties with a focus on safety, recognizing that safety is our top priority.
    • Evaluates compliance with established medication safety procedures
    • Offers suggestions to improve medication safety based on best practice (e.g. ISMP)
    • Routinely documents medication errors
    • Promotes an environment with a constant focus on medication safety
  • Provide leadership and support for formulary management through the following:
    • Participates as the Secretary of the Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) Committee to assist with formulary management and maximizing the safety, efficacy, and cost effectiveness of drug therapy in the institution
    • Participates as a member/coordinator of the Medication Use Evaluation (MUE) Committee
    • Prepares and presents drug information monographs for formulary review by the MUE Committee, Infectious Disease Subcommittee, Psych Subcommittee, Oncology-Pharmacy Committee and the P&T Committee
    • Participates in outcomes assessment and quality improvement initiatives for drug therapy management
  • Maintains responsibility for regulatory compliance, to include the following:
    • Ensures constant state of readiness for The Joint Commission, DEA, Board of Pharmacy, Board of Health, and all other regulatory bodies, and suggests and implements process improvement throughout the department to assist in maintaining a constant state of readiness
    • Assists in implementation of process improvements to increase overall regulatory compliance
    • Provides oversight for medication area unit inspections in the inpatient and outpatient settings
    • Participates in regulatory readiness rounding, as requested by the Department of Risk Management
  • Develops and refines policies and procedures that support the medication use process; provides oversight of and manages departmental policy series
  • Actively participates in the development and refinement of pharmacy practice by managing the activities of and providing guidance for pharmacy students and residents in their Drug Information/ Medication Use rotation
  • Provides support for financial stewardship initiatives through the following:
    • Serves as a leader in formulary management, leveraging the P&T Committee to maximize cost effectiveness of medication therapy
    • Identifies and evaluates potential cost savings initiatives; participates as member of Pharmacy Value Analysis Team
    • Actively participates in departmental operational budget design and review
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with the Department of Pharmacy leadership team, pharmacists, support staff, and pharmacy residents/students in role to ensure safe and effective medication management in oversight of the medication use process


  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree
  • Completion of a PGYI and/or PGY2 residency, or a minimum of five years full-time experience in regulatory and/or medication use process oversight
