  JOB SUMMARY:   The Cook II is responsible for the following essential job functions:     • Prepares food for Room Service and the Marketplace for customers according to menus/recipes and in correct serving portions as outlined by the menu   • Preps all assigned food items in timely manner and sets up station in order to accommodate the forecasted amount of customers for that particular day   • Demonstrates ability to plate food in a creative and eye-appealing nature   • Manages numerous customers in a polite and efficient manner   • Monitors food items for defects, irregularities in odor, color, taste, and reports to supervisor   • Completes prep orders and prep sheets and orders missing items from storage room   • Labels, dates and properly stores foods, utilizes the first-in-first-out system, has knowledge of time and temperature abuse in order to avoid potentially hazardous food conditions. Cleans equipment/work area used during and after the meal service   • Takes responsibility for safe sanitary handling of all food used, for safe use and utilization of cooking equipment   • Maintains proper sanitation that includes regular hand-washing, the proper use of disposable gloves, and keeping hair pulled back and covered at all times while in the kitchen  and grill area   • Maintains age specific and job specific competencies as described according to department/area/ and unit specific competencies   • Provides excellent customer service skills to external customers resulting in an increase revenues and patient satisfaction   REQUIREMENTS:       •         High School Diploma preferred or equivalent (GED) with 6 months experience dealing with quantity food preparation, cooking   •         Minimum of 2 years of related work experience that involved working on a line in a fast-paced establishment may be accepted in lieu of educational requirement
