JOB SUMMARY:

The Café Server Barista provides quality Starbucks beverages, whole bean, and food products consistently by adhering to all Starbucks recipe and presentation standards, while maintaining compliance with Indiana State Department of Health regulations and department policy and procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Delivers excellent customer service at all times and communicates in a professional and courteous manner with guests, hospital staff and coworkers

* Proficiency in the Micros POS system to ring up orders and cash out guests

* Provides quality Starbucks beverages, whole bean, and food products consistently by adhering to all Starbucks recipe and presentation standards, while maintaining compliance with Indiana State Department of Health regulations and department policy and procedures

* Maintains appropriate sanitation levels in the work area in compliance with the food code (proper labelling, FIFO and hand washing)

* Takes dine-in orders, delivers food to the table, presents the guest with meal check and pre-buses tables

* Promotes a positive guest experience by anticipating guests’ needs (drink refills, clearing dishes and upselling)

* Possesses knowledge of both the Café Soleil and Starbucks menus and verbalizes the menu options to guests and guides their experience to sell product

* Completes side work at the beginning and end of shift as assigned including but not limited to cleaning duties, food prep and stocking

* Works as a team member to provide the most efficient service to guests

* Maintains a calm and professional demeanor during periods of high volume to promote a positive guest experience and stable working environment

ASSOCIATED JOB DUTIES:

* Assists in maintaining all work/storage areas in a clean and organized manner

* Scheduled to staff catered events and special functions as needed

* Relieves other food service personnel for smooth operation of department as assigned

* Attends in-services and completes E-Learnings as assigned

* Performs other job related duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

* High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)

* Minimum of one year experience in a full service restaurant or hotel required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

* Ability to read, write and understand English

* Ability to learn quickly

* Strong interpersonal skills

* Ability to work as part of a team and build positive relationships

* Demonstrates proper use of equipment

* Follows infection control policies and procedures

* Knowledge of safe food handling practices

* Ability to handle complaints professionally

* Ability to communicate effectively in a professional, courteous manner with food service personnel and other hospital staff

RESPONSIBILITY:

* Maintains patient and family confidentiality

* Maintains protected health information in accordance with HIPAA privacy guidelines and regulations

JUDGMENT:

Incumbent may work under close supervision following established routines or assigned work with limited employee latitude

CONTACTS – INTERNAL/EXTERNAL:

* Daily contacts with intra departmental personnel, hospital employees, families, volunteers and visitors for food service

* External contacts through department representation

SPECIAL EFFORT REQUIRED:

* Standing, lifting, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and twisting

* Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying up to 40 lbs

* Constant computer/POS Register and bar equipment usage

* Constant talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word

* Occasional distinguishing, with a degree of accuracy, differences or similarities in intensity or quality of flavors and/or odors

* Constant clarity of vision at near and/or far distances

* Reports all hazardous conditions/equipment to manager

* Maintains a friendly, respectful, helpful attitude towards patients, visitors, staff and volunteers

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

* Restaurant, production kitchen, varied foodservice operations

* May be required to attend meetings or perform work remote from clinic or hospital campus

* Food Retail Area typical hospital/healthcare kitchen setting
