Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary

Senior Project Managers drive setup, execution, and closeout of Eskenazi Health projects of all scales.  They serve as the consolidated point of accountability, communication, and coordination for all activity within a given project.
    
Senior Project Managers drive success projects of varying types and levels of complexity, if need be by engaging and organizing the effort of subject matter experts and Associate Project Managers.  Senior Project Managers optimize the type, extent, and formality of controls required to achieve project success efficiently.

Senior Project Managers are charged with driving consistency in the way that projects are established, tracked and executed in the Eskenazi Health environment.

Senior Project Managers collaborate actively with all project stakeholders, resource managers, and task owners to ensure that:

•    Project objectives are well-formed, realistic, meet stakeholder expectations, and are adequately socialized
•    Projects have defined start and finish dates and—where appropriate—defined milestones
•    Key project constraints are identified, managed, and updated
•    Project budgets and resourcing are sufficient to deliver project objectives within agreed time frames and recognized constraints
•    Project plans or work approaches (e.g. scrum) are adequate to achieve agreed results
•    Project status information remains entirely transparent and is available in real time within the project portfolio
•    Project risks are actively managed throughout the course of the project
•    Project stakeholders and team members are kept abreast of project progress and issues
•    Project results are consistently reviewed for continual improvement purposes
 



Essential Functions and Responsibilities

•    Establishes, plans, manages, and closes out approved projects approved by the organization and assigned by IT/IS leadership
•    Organizes project status reporting and communication
•    Ensures that Eskenazi Health project management standards are utilized for all projects
•    Ensures that project portfolio information is kept up to date with project status, risk, and cost information
•    Ensures that project working materials are centralized and readily accessible to the project team and stakeholders
•    Ensures that project results are reviewed
 



Job Requirements

•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field, or the equivalent in other experience and/or certification
•    PMI or similar certification, Scrum Master certification; degree in project management, or business with a  concentration in project management may be accepted in lieu of certification
•    Proficiency with stakeholder management, service improvement, and requirements engineering/analysis best practices
•    Experience using common project and portfolio management platforms such as Microsoft Project, Jira, Primavera, ServiceNow, etc.
•    Familiarity with service management processes relevant to project management: Release Management, Change Management, Transition Planning and Support, Continual Service Improvement, etc.
•    At least 3 years of experience managing complex projects
•    Experience managing software deployment/upgrade projects (define, design, develop, deploy and support)
 



Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

•    Ability to productively engage staff, customers, stakeholders, and partners at all levels.  The incumbent will be able to effectively coordinate project participation across a diversity of roles both within and beyond Eskenazi Health
•    Ability to identify key team members and stakeholders for project of different types.  Senior Project Managers are expected to be able to identify the key players in projects for the purpose of enabling project setup and planning.
•    Ability to facilitate the development of clear and actionable project objectives which meet business requirements.  Senior Project Managers are expected to be able to work with stakeholders to arrive at agreement around useful project objectives.
•    Ability to facilitate discovery and planning of projects of all scales.  Senior Project Managers are expected to work down from objectives toward actionable work plans for projects of all scales and complexities.
•    Ability to match project management approaches with varying project scenarios.  Senior Project Managers are expected to choose appropriate project approaches (e.g. scrum versus waterfall) for successfully achieving project objectives given differing work types, teams, etc. 
•    Ability to drive compliance around project status reporting.  Senior Project Managers are expected to ensure that task or deliverable level project status is available at all times during project execution.
•    Ability to succinctly summarize and communicate project status.  Senior Project Managers are expected to consistently utilize templates and other pre-made materials to report regularly on project status.
•    Knowledge of IT development and software support requirements necessary. Information Services project managers will integrate heavily with the IT/IS departments and ability to manage these specific items will be critical for project success.
