Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 315-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.


Is responsible within the assigned area for efficient operation of culinary services at Eskenazi Health including production, service and sanitation through the supervision of employees and operations.   Ensures the integrity of food by ensuring food is prepared properly for adequate quantity, consistent quality (taste and appearance) and maintained at the proper time and temperature.  


  • Supervises all Eskenazi Health Food and Nutrition staff including Culinary Service Associates, Cook II’s and III’s, Stewards, Cashiers, Culinary Supervisors, and team leads and holding the staff to a high level of customer service expectations.
  • Maintains sanitation levels in all areas to the State Board of Health, CMS and Joint Commission requirements.
  • Recommends hiring, discharging, promotion and transfers
  • Conducts performance evaluations within the assigned area
  • Assists with service training and orientation of all newly hired staff
  • Conducts ongoing training through routine meetings and E-learning.
  • Maintains time and attendance records and administers the appropriate consoling
  • Makes menu recommendations for the retail outlets and patient services to optimize customer satisfaction and revenue growth
  • Assists with the total coordination of catering and special events
  • Assists with the management and oversight of deposits and cash management per facility policy
  • Utilizes efficient and proper use of Micros (POS System)
  • Meets regularly with managers to assure cost/time efficient services
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with key hospital departments and other key figures in associated organizations


  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree in hospitality, management, or related field
  • In lieu of a degree, completion of high school education or equivalent (GED) with a minimum of three years’ experience in a supervisory capacity in hospitality/customer service will be considered
  • Serve Safe Certification through the National Restaurant Association or must obtain certification within   6 months of employment
  • Experience in a full service restaurant, non-commercial healthcare, or large catering venue as a server, production cook or supervisor
