Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.


The Manager of Analytics is responsible for supporting and continually improving the effective utilization of relevant and accurate decision support data. They may be responsible for supporting all areas of the health system. While typically being limited in scope, they must work with the analytics team as a whole and ensure there is a standardized approach in the delivery of this information, reports, and analysis.

They are responsible for maintaining a responsive, knowledgeable, and customer service driven department which can meet the needs of those areas. Team members will be expected to develop a functional understanding of the realms they support to allow them to better serve those areas. They foster a culture which protects the data integrity of the system, can efficiently report data integrity findings, and readily identify potential solutions to the problems.

The Manager of Analytics will be heavily engaged with the areas they serve and will participate in necessary operational meetings to be aware of the current initiatives, and allow sufficient planning of upcoming initiatives. These meetings will also allow for on the spot assessments of feasibility.

Through the aforementioned activities the manager will be pushing on opportunities that will advance our analytics maturity as an organization. This advancement in maturity will open doors to further capabilities in the analytics space in order to better serve the organization.


  • Oversee analytical team in the extraction, aggregation and quality assurance of data from multiple sources in support of performing analytical reporting, operational reporting and quantitative analyses of data
  • Direct the development and execution of analytical and/or research activities to provide senior leadership with information and tools for strategic decision making, health care utilization and costs, affordability opportunities, reimbursement projects, population health, clinical outcomes, provider patterns, trends, and forecasting
  • Research, identify, & implement new approaches and methods to facilitate self-service analytics, the advancement of our analytics maturity, and support of operations
  • Provide best-in-class reporting and analytics to demonstrate the value of the department’s services
  • Develops the culture, tools, and expectation of transparency within the department
  • Develops a deep understanding of the business workflows and reporting needs within their realm.
  • Leads ongoing data collection and evaluation of data quality and integrity
  • Ensure that routine reporting is available to stakeholders in their customer areas.
  • Leads data governance committees related to their business areas.
  • Develops systems within their department and across the division to maintain acceptable standards of data management within accordance standards.
  • Collaborates routinely with senior leadership to understand the direction of the organization and how the analytics departments can better meet their needs
  • Organizes necessary resources, internal or external, to meet the organizational data and analytics needs.
  • Interacts in coordination with Epic build team to develop workflows and application configuration to meet reporting and analytics goals.
  • Coordinates and ensures the appropriate training and educational standards required for Epic data extraction are upheld to assist with the provision of high quality reporting.
  • Ensures that work being performed is in alignment with organization and strategic goals
  • Advances professional development, systems, and standards to progress the analytics maturity within the organization.
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with key stakeholders in their realm.
  • Develops policy related to analytics, data governance, the use of information, data management, and infrastructure
  • Upholds a superior level of professionalism, calmness, and organization in light of conflict or stress
  • Coach and mentor departmental staff and managers in the analytics life cycle, professional development, and enhancement of technical skills

  • Leads and creates a principled and philosophical approach to solving problems and providing direction of the team.
  • May coordinate with finance and payroll to supply necessary physician compensation models and reporting.
  • May support Eskenazi Medical Group and physician employment related analytics, including hospitalists
  • Works with revenue integrity team to develop necessary tools in support of their initiatives.
  • May support quality, financial, and regulatory initiatives such as:
    • UDS/HRSA
    • HEDIS Quality Reporting
    • Grant Reporting
    • Core Measures
    • Vizient Reporting
    • Meaningful Use
    • NHSN
    • Monthly and yearly organizational financials
    • Yearly health system audits
    • Hospital and professional billing audits, both internal and external


  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Related Field, Informatics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field.  In lieu of Bachelor’s Degree, an Associate’s degree in addition to 5 or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant work experience with emphasis on clinical operational understanding
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory or team lead experience or equivalent
  • Advanced personal computer skills including working knowledge or spreadsheet, database, and word processing software is necessary
