Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Opportunity Overview:

In this position as a Resource Pool RN, you will be able to work within all of our inpatient areas to help meet staffing needs.  This includes but is not limited to MICU, SICU, IICU, Acuity Adaptable, and Burn.  This will allow you to gain and continue to broaden your nursing practice through exposure to a variety of clinical specialties including: orthopedics, oncology, cardiology, palliative care, neurology, trauma, medicine, renal, urology, pulmonology, infectious disease, and more. 

The Resource Pool RN provides clinical care and uses coordination skills for every patient served. This includes understanding of the expected patients served in the unit'(s) nursing care is delivered using the Eskenazi Health Model of Care-Synergy, the ability to coordinate with the patient and family/loved ones and other healthcare disciplines to ensure care is appropriate to meet patient care needs. Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health's mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County; models Eskenazi Health values.

In addition to new employee and clinical core orientation, we ensure team members are provided a departmental orientation per each area they will support/float. Better support for nurses means better care for patients. What You Can Expect:

Eskenazi Health is a Level 1 trauma center, due to our high acuity team members in this role can anticipate handling/monitoring EVDs, Caminos, traction beds, and more. Candidates must be comfortable independently titrating drips; Levophed, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Phenylephrine, Nitroprusside, Cardizem, Carvedilol, Fentanyl, Propofol, Ativan, and paralytics.

  • Acuity Adaptable – 1:4 ratio and 144 beds
  • Intermediate ICU – 1:3 ratio and 24 beds with 12 flexible beds
  • MICU and SICU – 1:2 ratio and 24 beds on each unit
  • Burn Unit – 1:2 or 1:3 ratio based on acuity and 15 beds total.

Am I Qualified:

  • Minimum of two (2) years clinical nursing experience as an RN in a high acuity ICU required
  • Active Indiana RN license
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college/university preferred; must obtain within 5 years of hire


We are currently hiring 3 day shift RNs (630a – 7p) and 3 night shift RNs (630p – 7a).  Central staffing operates on a self-schedule model every six weeks.  Employee preference will be taken into consideration; however, central staffing may need to modify the schedule to best fit the needs of the hospital.

For this position, we require:

  • 3 weekend shifts/schedule (for day shift employees, 1 shift must be Sunday)
  • 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays/schedule for day shift nurses
  • 2 major holidays/year (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s and July 4th )
  • 1 minor holiday/year (Martin Luther King Jr Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day)
  • Must work the day before or the day after each “off” holiday
  • 1 “Hard to Fill” shift/year (Easter, Mother’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Father’s Day, and Halloween)
