Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.
The schedule consists of three (3) shifts during the week, 7:00am - 7:30pm - with call. During each schedule period of 6 weeks, this position will be on call for six (6) shifts. When on call, there is a 30 minute call window to arrive at the hospital and be ready for the OR.
The Certified Surgical Technician (CST) performs independently assigned surgical procedures and preparations as directed by the Charge Nurse in conjunction with the activities of the total surgical team. The Certified Surgical Technician assists surgeons, nurses and anesthesiologists as directed. The CST handles instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary for surgical procedures; has an understanding of the procedures being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon; has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative phase; and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.
Graduation from a Certified Surgical Technician/Technologist program and at least one (1) year of intra-operative experience. Will accept candidates with an active LPN license PLUS a minimum of two (2) years of intra-operative experience. Current CST certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA); new graduates must obtain CST certification within 45 days of their start date.
