Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary

The Certified Recovery Specialist assists consumers in articulating personal goals for recovery, determining reasonable and holistic steps toward recovery, identifying barriers to recovery goals, identifying personal strengths in daily living and recovery skills, and building social skills by demonstrating and reinforcing proper conduct and respectful interaction.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Assists consumers in the following areas:
    • articulates personal goals for recovery
    • determines reasonable and holistic steps toward recovery
    • identifies barriers to recovery goals
    • identifies personal strengths in daily living and recovery skills
    • builds social skills by demonstrating and reinforcing proper conduct and respectful interaction
  • Assists non consumer staff in identifying program elements that are supportive or destructive to recovery
  • Observes and reinforces positive progress that consumers make toward recovery goals
  • Teaches problem solving skills
  • Teaches consumers to identify and combat negative self-talk
  • Teaches consumers how to identify and overcome fears
  • Supports the vocational choices consumers make and assists them in overcoming job related anxieties and conflicts
  • Represents the needs and perspectives of the consumer
  • Utilizes his/her unique recovery experience to teach and role model the value of every individual's recovery experience
  • Maintains effective coping and self-help techniques
  • Continues to develop professional skill by maintaining certification through required coursework
  • Attends relevant seminars, staff in-service trainings as offered

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Experience in a human services area, teaching and observing
  • Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) certification required; Must be able to verify completion of state approved training program;
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license that meets the Eskenazi Health’s driving policy requirements required for the Evolve Program
