Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role SummaryThe Acuity Adaptable Mobility Technician functions under general supervision of the Registered Nurse or Physical Therapist and facilitates the mobilization of patients after surgery as well as performing general nursing assistant duties on his or her assigned unit(s). The incumbent will provide care to a designated group of patients under the direction of licensed staff and will follow unit guidelines, hospital policy, procedures and protocols to assist patients in achieving therapy and mobility goals.
Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesEffectively communicate with patients, visitors, and patient care staffProvide mobility assistance to assigned patients under direction of licensed staffExhibit hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity when working with patients and/or equipmentRecognize emergent situations and act appropriatelyParticipate in performance and quality improvement initiatives for the nursing department and the hospital's total joint replacement programMaintain accurate records, collect and provide data related to surgical patients as directedFacilitate outstanding patient experiences by integrating best practice tactics in interactions with patients, visitors and staffDemonstrate effective time management skills and maintain flexibilityCollaborate with licensed staff and patients in planning therapeutic mobility work (i.e. transfers, walking, meals, etc) to support the needs of patients and the unitUtilize motivational techniques and communication to encourage patients to participate in therapy activities and goals, including the use of devices such as incentive spirometer, cold packs, and sequential compression devices as ordered by the patient's provider and as directed by licensed staff
Job RequirementsAssociate's degree in health or customer services related discipline preferredCPR/BLS required upon hireEmergency Medical Technician-Basic or Paramedic, Certified Nursing Assistant, Physical Therapy Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or other clinical certification preferred
